Grand Teton: one of God's Masterpieces
The Grand Teton, a majestic peak in Wyoming, is composed primarily of ancient gneiss, a metamorphic rock formed oɔduring the mesoarchean age. This gneiss originated from seafloor sediments and volcanic debris that were buried and transformed by intense heat and pressure. The Teton Range's dramatic rise is due to uplift along the Teton Fault. Starting during the miocene era , this fault caused the western side to rise, creating the steep, iconic profile we see today. Glaciers further sculpted the landscape, carving deep valleys and sharpening the peaks.
