God shines the moon on Darwin's foolery

Genesis 1:2

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God (point of view) was moving over the surface of the waters.

Genesis 1:3

Then God said, "Let there be light" and there was light.



The Theia collision is a proposed event in the early history of the Solar System, in which a Mars-sized planet called Theia collided with the early Earth. The collision is thought to have occurred about 4.5 billion years ago, and is credited with forming the Moon.

The Theia collision made Earth's atmosphere less opaque (let there be light).

This allowed more sunlight to reach the surface, which was essential for the development of life on Earth. 

Recall the point of view of the writer in Gen 1:2 is the holy spirit over the depths on the earth's surface.


Genesis 1:11

Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit (and oxygen) after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so.


The Great Oxidation Event, or GOE, was a period of time about 2.5 billion years ago when the Earth's atmosphere began to accumulate oxygen. This was caused by the evolution of cyanobacteria which gave rise to vegetation. Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic bacteria that produce oxygen as a byproduct of their metabolism.


Vegetation acquired photosynthetic genes from cyanobacteria via horizontal gene transfer (HGT) of transposable elements (TEs) in a non-Darwinian fashion. This means that the genes were transferred between two different species, rather than being inherited from a common ancestor.

HGT is a common process in bacteria, and it is thought to have played a role in the Lamarckian evolution of photosynthesis in plants. The genes for photosynthesis are located on large TEs, which can be easily transferred between different species. This allowed cyanobacteria to transfer their photosynthetic genes to other bacteria, and eventually to plants.

The acquisition of photosynthetic genes from cyanobacteria was a major Lamarckian evolutionary event,



Lamarckian evolution is a theory of evolution that states that an organism's traits can be passed down to its offspring, even if those traits were acquired during the organism's lifetime. This is in contrast to Darwinian evolution, which states that only genetic changes can be passed down to offspring. 

Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression that are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence as with Darwin. These changes can be caused by environmental factors, such as diet, stress, or exposure to toxins. Epigenetic genes are thought to go all the way to life's beginning. They acted to rapidly adapt (not evolve) all of life over the life of our planet. It makes the cell or organism the "agent" of change not just our DNA through the impossibly slow random mutations of NeoDarwinism.

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is the process by which genes are transferred from one organism to another, even if they are not closely related. This can happen through a variety of mechanisms, such as viruses, bacteria, or plasmids. This is whole chunks of DNA not Darwin's collections of single mutations.

Transposable elements (TEs) are segments of DNA that can move around within the genome. TEs can insert themselves into new locations in the genome, or they can delete themselves. TEs can also be passed down to offspring..


Genesis 1:14

Then God said, "let there be (Heb-"asah, to reveal, not barah, create) lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

Genesis 1:16

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.




Oxygen in Genesis day 3 allows the 'great lights" to shine through on Genesis day 4. Note the atmosphere is more transparent but still the Sun and moon are seen as luminaries at this time.
