Danny Faulkner on Gravity Waves

Image
“Gravity waves are a part of Einstein’s general theory of relativity. Einstein had predicted the existence of gravity waves a century ago. Over the years, the predictions of general relativity have been tested repeatedly, and it is one of the best-supported theories in the history of science. LIGO consists of twin systems, one near Livingston, Louisiana, and the other on the Hanford Site in the State of Washington. LIGO detectors picked up the same signal in an event that lasted about a quarter of a second. The only difference in the two detections was that they were seven milliseconds apart in time. The time delay helped determine the direction in space where the ripple came from. (Note: this is due to the gravity waves traveling at the speed of light between the LIGO receivers). Additional information gleaned from the data yielded a redshift for the waves that correspond to a distance of about 1.3 billion light-years for the black hole merger. As an astronomer...

The nebular hypothesis - a challenge to Young Earth Creationism?

Image
Psalms 90 : (written by Moses before Genesis) “ Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night.” Some recent Young Earth Creationists (YEC) posit that stars were created on Genesis Day 4 of creation as described in the Bible, using the 24-hour day interpretation. This implies that we shouldn't expect to find stars actively forming in the universe today . However, the nebular hypothesis , which proposes that stars and planets form from the gravitational collapse of giant clouds of gas and dust, is fully supported by scientific evidence.  Answers in Genesis (AiG) criticizes the nebular hypothesis over 700 times on their website. Their claims haven't been accepted by the scientific community as well as many many other Christians. On their website an article has the below illustration and...

Dr Jason Lisle's writes in Answers in Genesis -”The Universe Confirms the Bible”- review

Dr Jason Lisle's writes in Answers in Genesis -” The Universe Confirms the Bible” He writes , “The Bible indicates in several places that the universe has been “stretched out.” This would suggest that the universe has actually increased in size since its creation. Most astronomers today believe that the universe is expanding. This expansion is a very natural result of the physics that Einstein discovered, General Relativity . There is observational evidence that the universe is indeed expanding If the entire universe were being stretched out, the galaxies would all be moving away ; and that is exactly what they appear to be doing. It “is interesting that the Bible recorded the notion of an expanding universe thousands of years before secular science came to accept the idea.” Lisles conclusions: #1 “Natural result of Einstein General Relativity” As to Einsteins General Relativity Danny Faunkner of AiG says this, “ Over the years, the predictions of general relativity have b...

Danny Faulkner “Rethinking Dark Energy: A Chink in the Cosmic Armor?” (a review)

Image
Faulkner : The late 1990s witnessed a paradigm shift in cosmology with the discovery of dark energy , a mysterious force believed to be driving the universe's accelerating expansion . This article explores the recent challenge to this established theory and the potential implications. Prior to this discovery, the universe's expansion, initially observed by Edwin Hubble , was thought to be slowing down. However, two independent teams observed that distant type Ia supernovae , typically used as distance indicators due to their consistent luminosity, appeared fainter than expected . This unexpected observation suggested an accelerating expansion, necessitating the introduction of dark energy. Dark energy, unlike its counterpart dark matter, doesn't interact with light or normal matter directly and remains largely unexplained. This "unknown" aspect has led some researchers to question its existence especially as it is so fine-tuned . Excellent YouTube on...
